Testing using TestFlight

If you've been invited, you can test new iOS versions of the NHS App using TestFlight. It's a free app made by Apple.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • an iPhone or iPad
  • the Apple ID to match the email address we sent an invite to

Step 1: Install TestFlight

Install TestFlight before following the link in the email invite.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store.
  2. Search for TestFlight.
  3. Install TestFlight.

Step 2: Open your invite email

  1. On the same iPhone or iPad, open the invite email from us.
  2. Select View in TestFlight (this may say Start testing).
  3. TestFlight opens automatically.
If the invite button does not work

Your invite email also contains a redeem code.

  1. Open TestFlight.
  2. Select Redeem.
  3. Enter the code from your email.

Step 3: Accept and install the app

  1. In TestFlight, select Accept.
  2. Select Install.
  3. The app appears on your home screen. Open it from there or from within TestFlight.

Get new versions

We'll release updated versions of the app while you're testing.

  • You may get a notification when a new version is ready.
  • To update, open TestFlight and select Update next to the app.

Test versions expire 90 days after we upload them to TestFlight. If you see 'Expired', open TestFlight to get the latest version. If a new version is not showing, contact us.
