Installing an app from TestFlight
You can use TestFlight to test versions of the NHS App before they're released.
Before you start
You'll need:
- an iPhone or iPad
- the email address we used to invite you
Use the device that's signed in to an Apple ID with that email address. Your invite is linked to it, so the app will not install on a device signed in to an Apple ID with a different account.
Step 1: Install TestFlight
Install TestFlight before you open the invite email. If you open the invite first without TestFlight, the link will not work.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the App Store.
- Search for TestFlight.
- Install TestFlight. It's free and made by Apple.
Step 2: Open your invite email
- On the same iPhone or iPad, open the invite email from us.
- Select View in TestFlight (this may say Start testing).
- TestFlight opens automatically.
If the invite button does not work
Your invite email also contains a redeem code.
- Open TestFlight.
- Select Redeem.
- Enter the code from your email.
Step 3: Accept and install the app
- In TestFlight, select Accept.
- Select Install.
- The app appears on your home screen. Open it from there or from within TestFlight.
Get new versions
We'll release updated versions of the app while you're testing.
- You may get a notification when a new version is ready.
- To update, open TestFlight and select 'Update' next to the app.
Test versions expire 90 days after we upload them to TestFlight. If you see 'Expired', open TestFlight to get the latest version. If there isn't one, contact us.
